The End!

Wow I can't believe that its over. It is hard to believe that this project is finished. I guess I am sad in away. I love learning new things and sharing them with everyone. I hope that everyone had as much fun as I did. Now it is off to the next thing! See you around!

Week 22 Mashups

When I started this week I didn't really know what a smash up was. But now I realize that I use them more than I thought. I use igoogle at home. I use Facebook on a daily basis. Youtube - Week 21

I love Youtube or should I say I love watching things on Youtube. There have been who Saturday evenings spent watching different videos on Youtube. What I think is neat is that my five-year-old daughter loves watching videos on Youtube. She has even watched a few episodes of Jem and the Holigrams (this was my favorite show when I was a little girl). I don't know who besides me will remember this but here is a link to the show opener. I guess the only downfall would be is that I proablly would use this site to post my videos to. 1st of all because most of my videos are of my girls and second I don't know how save it would be. Plus I already post the videos on my Facebook account which I can make sure that only my friends will be able to view it. I would really hope that the library will have a YouTube video contest. I think that this would be a good way to engage our Teen population.

Second Life Week 20

What do I think? I don't really know. I have it on my computer here at work. I found it very difficult to move around. I have never been much in to playing rpgs so I find it hard to move around. Plus I have no sense of direction. I get lost very easily. I didn't even get past the tutorial so I didn't actually get in to SL. Oh Well!

The only reason that I could see a use for it would be if there were a large portion of service population using second life. Then I would want to create an online version of us. It would have links to our online databases, audiobooks, and NetLibrary. For me that is as far as my creativity goes.

Week 18 Postcasting

This week I had a good time. I subscribed to one of the channels using rss. Then I went to blogger and created my own postcast channel. Here is my post cast!

Week 17 - Surveying the Land

I like this week. I love polls. I don't know if I am weird or not. It's just me. This week has been fun.

I have added commenting to my blog. I really like to read comments on bogs but I don't really write anything on them. It is a good way to find out what others think about the particular posting that I am on.

Week 15 - Jott & Remember the Milk

This week was not as fun for me. I think that this is only because I don't think I would use anything like this as of right now. I use Google calendar and a good old fashion wall calender. It works perfectly fine for me. It is interesting though to see how technology is working to help us (people) with our short comings.

I didn't find Remember the Milk very easy to navigate once you were there. I just didn't feel comfortable. I am kind of stuck in a rutt. If I have to search it out it is no fun for me. I couldn't figure out with to publish the list. I know that was just an extra assignment but I was getting irritated because I couldnt' find it.

I didn't try out Jott. I think that it would be slightly more useful than Remember the milk but I still don't think I would use it. I hate being on the phone. I would rather sit down and email it or put it on the calendar. I guess i just don't have a need for any of these.

Tagging

I use tagging on my blog already. I have turned it into a cloud. Love it. It is kind of nice to see what things I have written about that have similar subjects. I do have to say that you can't get crazy with tags. If you have to many different takes it doesn't help you get through your stuff any easier. That is my opinion only.

I went to delicious.com and clicked on some of the popular tags of subjects that I am interested in. One was web.20 and it brought me to a list of sites that people tagged under that term. Another one was web development which brought me to some pretty cool web sites.

Unfortunately I am old fashioned. Like my book marks to myself. I haven't made that giant leap yet!

IMing

I don't know where I would be if I didn't have IM. Love it! I would prefer to chat with a person than sit on the phone with them. I mainly use GoogleTalk. Facebook now has chat so I use that to talk to people who I may not have on GoogleTalk. I have also used Yahoo chat and MSN chat. Still prefer Google Talk over all of them. I do have a meebo account. I find it to be a little annoying because it is just webased. If you accidentally close the window you are screwed.

1st Semester - A look back

This has been a totally fun thing for me. I enjoy helping those around me learn about new technology. I hope that this will help us to provide some new services to our patrons. It's been fun! I hope that everyone has had as much fun as I have.

Week 10 - Library Thingy

I didn't know much about this. I have tried it out. Take a look at my library. I just added books that were sitting on my desk. I think I might use this to catalog the books that I really do own at home. That way I know exactly what I own so that I can look up if I am at a store and don't know if I own a particular title. That will be way cool but I think it will take me some time to do this. I can't use the suggester or get recommendations because I do not have enough with just 5 books. I will have to try in the future.

Weel 9 - Facebook

I must say that until about 7-8 months ago. I wasn't doing much Social Networking. But now I don't know what I would do without it. I really use it as a way to keep up to date with things going on in my family. For example, I currently have a cousin who is station in Afghanistan. She sends updates all the time. A quick way for us to find out if she is ok. My sister and I also use it like email. Since it has an inbox and allows you to compose messages. So nice. They have also recently added a chat feature which is also nice.

I am also on LinkedIn but I have to be honest. I don't look at it much. I really haven't found a way to really use it to my advantage. I think it would be a really great tool if I was looking for a new job.

I would never get a MySpace account. It just really annoys me. I can't stand how people build their pages with all the different backgrounds. Also, when I think of MySpace, I think of high school. I hated high school. Maybe that is my problem. Oh well!

Week 8 - Photo Sharing

I don't know about most people but I have been using online photo sharing now for about 4 years. I love it. I use Snapfish. I love it. I can upload my photos to their website @ www.snapfish.com. Share them with my family and friends. I also can order photos really easy and cheap. I really no longer print photo's at home because it is so much cheaper to order them online. I really like this site because it doesn't have a public option. I do not want my girls pictures all over the internet.

Week 6 Wiki's

I love Wikipedia. I love all this information neatly arranged for us. Also, like that the information has been entered by normal people. It's free! Yeah! I don't have much experience with Wiki's. I had tried to use one when we set up AIT. Didn't find them as easy to use as a blog. I don't know if I have more problems with pre-formated websites like wiki's because I do know HTML (that cryptic programing language). For me sometimes it is just easier to do it myself.

Week 5 Google Apps

Totally love the Google products. My favorite would have to be docs and spreadsheets. I have started to use it a lot. I have over 100 documents. If you were to send me a document I would prefer that you share it with me on Google docs. I really hate having multiple copies of the same file out there. It is nice to have one central file that I can share with anyone. Makes my life easier.

I also like to use the calendar. I have my calendar set up so that it will send me an agenda for the day. It is nice to be automatically reminded what you have to do that day.

Week 4 RSS

Love it! I didn't think that 1 piece of software could make my life so much easier. I don't know how much time I spent hoping from one site to another looking for all my news. Now I can get it all in one place. Now I have more time on my hands to do more fun things!

Week 3- Blogging

I really do like to blog. It is what I use to keep my family updated on what is going on in my family. I am am really getting comfortable with blogger since I have started to work on AIT. Hope you all are having as much fun as I am!
